What is an EUSR card?
If you work in the energy or utilities sector, you may be asked to hold an EUSR card before you can carry out certain roles or access particular sites. EUSR stands for Energy & Utility Skills Register, a register of individuals who’ve completed recognised training or assessments for utility-related work.
The card is linked to your EUSR registration and shows which registrations you hold. You can use it when you need to prove your EUSR status, such as when starting a job or arriving on site, by either showing your EUSR card or through the EUSR register.
What does an EUSR card show?
EUSR cards show your name, photograph and EUSR ID number on the front. The reverse shows your current registrations or endorsements, although additional registrations may only appear on the online EUSR Register Search.
You can also use a virtual EUSR card on a smartphone or tablet. This can be checked on site using the relevant card-checking app, while employers can use EUSR’s Register Search to verify your registration.
What types of EUSR card are there?
There isn’t one EUSR card that covers every role. The type you need depends on the work you do and the registrations required.
Current EUSR cards include the standard EUSR Card, EUSR CSCS Partner Card, National Water Hygiene card, Scottish Water DOMS card and Products for Drinking Water card.
The EUSR CSCS Partner Card, for example, is for people who need to access CSCS-controlled construction sites to carry out utilities work. The National Water Hygiene card serves a different purpose and is specifically linked to clean water operations.
How do you get an EUSR card?
The exact route depends on the registration you need. Generally, you’ll need to find the appropriate EUSR scheme, complete the required training or assessment through an approved provider and meet the scheme requirements. Your training provider can then submit your registration to EUSR.

The process for each scheme varies. For example, if you take a SHEA course, you’ll need to complete the relevant course and assessment. However, if you have gained an approved NCO Gas Level 2 qualification, you can use our NCO Gas Registration service to register it with EUSR.
Once you meet the scheme requirements, we can register your details with EUSR and record your registration. Each EUSR registration is valid for different periods depending on the scheme you take. You can check your registration expiry date and arrange renewals as needed or book re-registration before it expires.
