The National Grid Competent Person (CP) Substations NSI6 & NSI8 Full course provides the essential training for individuals requiring Competent Person status in substation environments. This course focuses on NSI 6 (Work in Substations) and NSI 8 (Earthing High Voltage Equipment) and equips delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely carry out switching, isolation, and application of portable earths within National Grid substations.
Delegates will gain both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience to ensure full compliance with National Grid Safety Rules and procedural requirements for CP authorisation.
The National Grid Authorisation Training can only be booked either directly with NG or through the live NG Booking Portal via an approved provider, such as ourselves.

This course is typically delivered for groups of four or more delegates.

The Competent Person (Substations) NSI 6 & NSI 8 training is intended for individuals who are required to carry out controlled work activities within high-voltage substations, including switching, isolation, and earthing operations.
Normally a PC Rep (SR163.11) will also need to hold this authorisation.
Anyone who wants to hold a NGET Safety Document will need this authorisation.
If you have held a Competent Person withing the last 2 years you normally don’t require the additory evidence.
Photo ID – such as Passport or Driving Licence
9 day evidence form, completed and printed (Not required if previously held)
