The NRSWA Location and Avoidance (LA) course provides operatives and supervisors with essential knowledge and practical skills to safely work near buried utilities. Delegates learn how to identify, locate, and avoid underground apparatus such as gas pipes, water mains, electricity cables, and telecoms infrastructure before excavation.
This training ensures compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991, minimises on-site risks, and helps protect both workers and the public.
The course emphasises safe digging practices, effective use of detection equipment, and understanding legal responsibilities, enabling delegates to operate confidently and safely in streetworks environments.
