Course Content

The course uses materials developed by EUSR in consultation with the gas industry and aligns with IGEM/GL/6 Edition 3, emphasising risk-based management of gas safety systems.

Delegates will gain comprehensive knowledge of:

  • Roles and responsibilities in gas operations, with emphasis on competent persons
  • SCO Core principles and the regulatory framework for safe control of operations
  • Permit to Work (PTW) procedures: issuing, accepting, and applying permits for gas work
  • Form of Authority (FOA): understanding, application, and record keeping
  • Types of permits and when each is required for routine and non-routine operations
  • Record management and regulatory compliance documentation
  • Transferring personnel between companies and continuity of authorisations
  • Deviation and communication processes for managing non-standard situations
  • Inspection, monitoring, and audit requirements to ensure compliance and safe operations
  • Risk-based approach to managing gas safety systems, as outlined in GL/6
