Course Overview

The EUSR SHEA Water Conversion Course is a concise, industry-accredited programme designed for individuals who already hold a valid SHEA passport (such as Gas, Power, Waste, Telecoms, or Core) and wish to extend their qualification into the water and wastewater sector.

This fast-track training provides a focused route to gaining EUSR SHEA Water certification without repeating the full course, recognising your existing SHEA knowledge while delivering the water-specific content required for safe and compliant site access.

Delivered in just 2–3 hours, this conversion course covers essential safety, health, and environmental principles relevant to working on clean and wastewater networks. Delegates will gain an understanding of industry legislation, hazards, pollution control, and operational responsibilities specific to the UK water utilities environment.

On successful completion, you receive your EUSR SHEA Water card, recognised across the UK water industry. If you also need a CSCS card for construction site access, you can add a CSCS card application when you book.

Who should Attend This Course

This EUSR SHEA Water Conversion course is designed for:

Professionals with a valid SHEA passport entering water network operations
Contractors and operatives cross-skilling to work on water infrastructure
Existing SHEA Passport holders needing formal recognition for water utility access
SHEA Conversion is only open to delegates who take the course no more than 2 years from the date of their original SHEA Course.
There is no need to retake the full SHEA Water course but you must be able to present your existing SHEA Passport certification to qualify

Prerequisites

To complete a SHEA conversion, delegates must hold a valid initial EUSR SHEA registration (e.g. Gas, Power, Waste, Water, or Core) that was attained within the previous two years.

The SHEA registration gained through the conversion will have the same expiry date as the initial SHEA registration used to complete the conversion. Completing a conversion does not restart or extend your registration. A full SHEA registration lasts 3 years (5 years for SHEA Gas), and a conversion ends on the same date as your original registration.

The EUSR SHEA Water Conversion Course builds upon existing SHEA principles while focusing on the water industry’s unique operational hazards, compliance frameworks, and environmental expectations.

Who is eligible for the SHEA Water conversion course?

Anyone who holds a valid EUSR SHEA registration in another sector (for example Gas, Power, Telecoms or Core), gained within the last two years.

How long is the certification valid?

A full SHEA registration is valid for 3 years (5 years for SHEA Gas). A conversion works differently: your new SHEA Water registration expires on the same date as the original SHEA registration you converted from, so it doesn't add any extra time. Check the expiry date on your current card to see how long you'll have.

Do I need to complete the full SHEA Water course?

No. If you already hold a valid SHEA registration in another sector and meet the eligibility criteria, the conversion course replaces the full course.

How long is the conversion training?

Typically between half-day to one full day, depending on group delivery needs and prior experience.

Important CSCS Update from 1 October 2026

From 1 October 2026, EUSR SHEA registrations will no longer automatically include the CSCS element. If you need a CSCS card to access construction sites, you will need to apply separately for the appropriate EUSR CSCS card for your job role.
