Course Overview

The EUSR SCO NRO (Non-Routine Operations) course provides advanced training for individuals responsible for planning, supervising, authorising, or overseeing work activities on gas networks that fall outside normal operational procedures. Non-routine operations typically present increased risk, complexity, or urgency—such as emergency repairs, live interventions, or abnormal network conditions—making specialist competence essential.

This 1.5-day course builds on the core SCO qualifications to ensure duty holders fully understand the additional controls, risk assessments, documentation, and authorisation processes required for non-routine activities. Delegates will learn how to apply IGEM/GL/6 Edition 3 risk-based principles to real-world scenarios, ensuring safe and compliant decisions during higher-risk gas operations.

Completion of this training enables operatives, supervisors, and authorised engineers to be formally recognised to plan or authorise Non-Routine Operations under the SCO scheme.
