The National Grid Person OHL renewal course is a 1/2 day eLearning course and provides essential refresher training for individuals who need access to high-voltage OHL Areas , focusing on safety, hazard awareness, and compliance with National Grid rules.

What To Have With You To Attend The Course

Access to a laptop or PC computer and stable internet connection.

Assessment

Elearning assessments on underpinning substation knowledge and on dangers of impressed voltage. A minimum score of 85% is required to achieve a pass.

Course Content

This course consists of Computer Based Training on basic OHL equipment, hazards in substation environments and NG Safety Rules, this course also involves Computer Based Training (CBT) on the dangers of impressed voltage

Key elements of this training include:

Electrical safety principles: understanding high-voltage risks, electric shock, and arc flash
Overhead lines environment: layouts and equipment
Hazard awareness: recognising electrical, mechanical, and environmental risks
Safe access procedures: entry permissions, permits, and safe distances
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): correct selection and use of safety gear
Emergency response: actions for incidents like fire, shock, or equipment failure
Rules and responsibilities: compliance with National Grid safety standards, authorisations and roles
By the end of the course, participants can safely enter OHL areas, recognise hazards, and follow NGET working practices.
