Course Overview

The EUSR Impressed Voltage Awareness for Managers – ECP/EAP course is a specialist training programme designed for Engineering Control Persons (ECP), Engineering Authorised Persons (EAP), and senior managers responsible for supervising high-voltage (HV) works. This accredited course equips delegates with the knowledge, procedural awareness, and practical skills required to safely manage impressed voltage risks on National Grid and UK utility projects.

Delegates will learn to identify IV hazards, implement safe systems of work, apply drain earthing techniques, and ensure compliance with National Grid standards, EUSR requirements, and supplier safety rules. The training also covers managerial responsibilities for overseeing the issuance of permits, supervising safe work practices, and maintaining control over HV operations.

By the end of the course, participants will have the expertise to authorise, manage, and mitigate impressed voltage risks, ensuring project teams operate safely around HV assets, substations, overhead lines, and switchgear.

This course is designed to provide guidance and best practice for those working on or in proximity to National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) assets, it references NGET procedures and industry practices to support understanding and application in the workplace. It is not an official NGET training course and is not endorsed by or delivered on behalf of NGET.
