Course Overview

The EUSR SHEA Telecoms Conversion Course is a concise, industry-recognised training programme designed for individuals who already hold a valid SHEA passport (such as Gas, Power, Water, Waste, or Core) and now require registration for the Telecommunications sector.

This fast-track conversion enables delegates to expand their existing qualifications efficiently, focusing solely on the telecoms-specific modules required for EUSR registration, without repeating the full SHEA programme.

Delivered in approximately 1 hour, the course provides essential health, safety, and environmental awareness for those working on or around telecoms networks, exchanges, and infrastructure projects. Participants will gain an understanding of telecoms-specific hazards, regulatory frameworks, and best practice principles to ensure safe operations in line with Energy & Utility Skills standards.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive their EUSR SHEA Telecoms registration, which expires on the same date as their original SHEA registration, allowing access to telecoms-controlled sites across the UK.

Prerequisites

To complete a SHEA conversion, delegates must hold a valid initial EUSR SHEA registration (e.g. Gas, Power, Waste, Water, or Core) that was attained within the previous two years.

The SHEA registration gained through the conversion will have the same expiry date as the initial SHEA registration used to complete the conversion. Completing a conversion does not restart or extend your registration. A full SHEA registration lasts 3 years (5 years for SHEA Gas), and a conversion ends on the same date as your original registration.

SHEA Water conversion completed on 10/10/2026, expiry 11/12/2028

Which SHEA passports are accepted for this conversion?

Any valid EUSR-registered SHEA passport (e.g. Gas, Water, Core, Power) gained within the last two years is accepted.

How long does the SHEA Telecoms registration last after conversion?

A full SHEA registration is valid for 3 years (5 years for SHEA Gas). A conversion works differently: your new SHEA Telecoms registration expires on the same date as the original SHEA registration you converted from, so it doesn't add any extra time. Check the expiry date on your current card to see how long you'll have.

What if my existing SHEA passport has expired?

Conversion needs a valid SHEA registration gained within the last two years. If yours has expired, you'll need to take the full SHEA Telecoms course. Please contact us if you're unsure.

Important CSCS Update from 1 October 2026

From 1 October 2026, EUSR SHEA registrations will no longer automatically include the CSCS element. If you need a CSCS card to access construction sites, you will need to apply separately for the appropriate EUSR CSCS card for your job role.

You can add your CSCS card application when booking your SHEA course with Pragmatic. Simply select the appropriate card via the basket option.
