The NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding (Supervisors) Course (Unit S1, formerly Unit 10) provides supervisors with the knowledge and competency required to effectively monitor operatives who are responsible for setting out temporary traffic management systems on public highways.
This course focuses on the supervisory responsibilities outlined in the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991 and the associated Code of Practice. Delegates will learn how to assess work sites, identify hazards, review traffic control layouts, and ensure operatives are implementing signing, lighting, and guarding safely and correctly.
Unlike the operative course, supervisors are not required to physically set out the equipment themselves. Instead, the emphasis is on overseeing, guiding, and ensuring compliance to maintain the safety of the workforce and the public.
This course is essential for supervisors overseeing street works activities where temporary traffic management systems are used, ensuring sites meet current standards and legal requirements.
