This one-day EUSR Approved Earthing, Brazing and Exothermic Welding course provides delegates with practical training in the techniques and equipment used when working with earthing systems, including brazing and exothermic welding.
The course focuses on the practical application of earthing principles, with delegates learning how to correctly use associated equipment to carry out repairs and connections to the Main Earth System (MES).
The training includes practical demonstrations and hands-on application of brazing and exothermic welding techniques, alongside an overview of relevant industry guidance and standards.

This course is suitable for delegates who require practical training in earthing, brazing and exothermic welding within the electrical and utilities sectors.
No previous experience is required. However, an electrical background and experience as a National Grid Electrical Competent Person (NGET CP) would be advantageous.
As this is a practical course, delegates are expected to have an understanding of the underlying principles of earthing, brazing and exothermic welding.

Earth electrode installation
Delegates will review the requirements for earth electrode installation before progressing to practical application and equipment use.
Brazing
The trainer will demonstrate the correct procedures and use of equipment for brazing earthing connections. Delegates will then apply the techniques under supervision.
Exothermic welding
Delegates will learn how exothermic welding is used to create permanent electrical connections within earthing systems.
The practical session covers the appropriate equipment, preparation and application of the process, with delegates completing practical exercises under trainer supervision.
Earthing repairs and connections
The course focuses on the practical application of earthing techniques, including repairs to earth tape and connections to the Main Earth System.
A key part of the course is the practical application of brazing and exothermic welding techniques.
Delegates will have the opportunity to work with the relevant equipment and apply the procedures covered during the course. Practical sessions are delivered in small groups, allowing delegates to receive instruction and support from the trainer.
Each delegate will receive a minimum of 60 minutes of practical training during the course.
The practical training focuses on developing the delegate’s ability to correctly use the equipment and demonstrate good practice when carrying out earthing repairs and connections.
