The Restoration of Motive Power (ROMP) course is a National Grid–approved training and assessment programme designed for Competent Persons (CPs), engineers, and operational staff who are responsible for reinstating supply following a system fault or outage.

Delegates gain the knowledge, procedures, and practical understanding required to carry out restoration activities safely, in accordance with National Grid Safety Rules and relevant NSIs. This course is essential for those who undertake restoration duties as part of their operational responsibilities.

The National Grid Authorisation Training can only be booked either directly with NG or through the live NG Booking Portal via an approved provider, such as ourselves.

Prerequisites

Delegates will need to hold:

  • An NG Competent Person Substation and/or NG Competent Person OHL
  • And – 2 ROMP documents held under Personal Supervision of a ROMP authorised CP within last 12 months
  • (Other Utility Company equivalent documents may be evidenced)
  • If you have previously held ROMP within the last 2 years, then additional evidence is not normally required.
