The CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course Online is a remote, one-day training programme designed to give workers a clear understanding of health and safety responsibilities on construction sites. Delivered via Zoom, the course mirrors the structure of the classroom-based version while allowing delegates to learn safely from any location.
The course highlights potential site hazards and provides practical guidance on keeping yourself, your colleagues, and the workplace safe. Delegates will gain a solid understanding of both individual and employer responsibilities, including what actions to take if health and safety concerns arise.
By the end of the day, participants will understand:
- Why their duties are important
- What is expected of them while on site
- How their actions contribute to a safe working environment
Successful completion provides a widely recognised CITB qualification, helping workers meet industry health and safety standards.
Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Skills Gained
On successful completion of the course the delegates are awarded the Construction Industry Training Board (Site Safety Plus) Certificate in PDF format. This will be sent electronically to the course booker.
This course is a prerequisite to obtaining the CSCS Green Labourers Card.

Course Objectives
To ensure the individual health and safety responsibilities of the worker are understood.
- Why they are carrying out their identified duties.
- What is expected of them while on site.
- How they contribute to the safety of the workplace.
Each delegate will receive the CITB Mandatory Publications (eBooks for virtual courses and hardcopy for face-to-face courses):
- Construction health and safety awareness (GE707)
Other supporting materials such as will be provided as well:
- HSE HSG65 – Managing for health and safety.
- HSE INDG275 – Plan, Do, Check, Act – An introduction to managing for health and safety.
- HSE INDG417 – Leading health and safety at work
This training is endorsed by BuildUK.
Health And Safety Awareness Course Assessment
Assessment will be by an end of course examination which is 30 minutes. The question paper consists of 25 multiple-choice questions: 20 questions are worth one mark each and 5 questions are worth two marks each. The delegates must obtain 25 marks out of 30 (83%) or more to pass the examination. This exam must be taken at the end of the course
Entry Requirements
Delegates must be competent in English at operative level. The course content is suited to all ability levels.
