Become fully up-to-date with the UK’s latest electrical wiring regulations — including the newest Amendment 4 to the 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018+A4:2026).
This 3-day City & Guilds 2382-26 18th Edition course gives you the underpinning knowledge and qualification required for safe electrical work in the UK electrical industry. It has been updated for BS 7671:2018 Amendment 4 — the latest wiring regulations due to take effect from 15 April 2026.
This qualification is essential for practising electricians, electrical supervisors, inspectors, consultants, and anyone working with low-voltage electrical installations. It ensures you understand the current national standard for electrical installations and the latest regulatory requirements issued by the IET and BSI.
The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations remain the UK’s nationally recognised standard for electrical installations. In April 2026, BS 7671 will be updated with Amendment 4, consolidating previous amendments and introducing new requirements that reflect modern technologies and safe practice.
Amendment 4 can be implemented from 15 April 2026 and, after a six-month transition period, becomes the principal reference for new and altered installations, including inspection and testing.
This training is suitable for:
It’s also ideal for those who already hold the 18th Edition (earlier versions) and want to be confident they comply with the latest regulatory requirements post-April 2026.
This course incorporates all confirmed changes from Amendment 4 to the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations — including new requirements and sections that weren’t covered in previous editions:
1. Stationary Secondary Batteries
A dedicated chapter covering battery energy storage systems and their safe installation and operation.
2. Functional Earthing & Functional Equipotential Bonding for ICT Systems
New requirements for earthing and equipotential bonding specific to information and communication technology systems.
3. Power over Ethernet (PoE)
A new section addressing design and installation considerations for PoE systems used for lighting, data, and smart building services.
4. Major Update to Section 710 – Medical Locations
Revised requirements reflecting modern medical electrical installations, including new schedules for testing protective equipotential bonding.
5. Consolidation of Previous Amendments
Amendment 4 integrates Amendments 1, 2, and 3 into a single publication, making the regs easier to use and reference.
These updates reflect evolving industry needs — especially with increasing battery storage integration, advanced data systems, and smart technologies — ensuring you’re working within the latest safety framework.
Our 3-day 18th Edition course provides a structured, in-depth exploration of the IET Wiring Regulations and their practical application.
