What is the SHEA Water Card?

The SHEA (Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness) Water card is a one-day, EUSR‑registered passport scheme designed for workers in the water industry. It covers eight modules, six “core” modules relevant to all utilities and two water-specific ones, providing proof of your health, safety, and environmental awareness on operational and CSCS-controlled sites 

Why You Need It

Legal and site access compliance: The card, affiliated with CSCS, grants access to clean water and sewage sites under construction, aligning you with Health & Safety Executive (HSE) regulations 
One-card solution: Combines utility and construction site access into one credential, eliminating the need for multiple cards 
Three-year validity: Valid for three years before needing renewal

How to Get Your SHEA Water Card

1. Choose a Registered Training Provider

Book a SHEA Water course with an EUSR-recognised provider, such as Pragmatic Consulting, offering in-person or remote delivery. The initial training must cover all eight modules 

2. Complete the Modules

The scheme includes:

Modules 1–6: Core aspects like workplace responsibilities, environmental impact, risk control, common hazards, occupational health, and emergency response.
Modules 20 & 21: Water-specific content, clean water operations and highway working/excavations

3. Pass the Assessments

Each module concludes with a multiple-choice test. You can complete them all together or one at a time 

4. Register & Get Your Card

Upon passing, your provider submits your details to the EUSR, and you’ll receive your SHEA Water card (EUSR registration valid for 3 years). A temporary cover note is issued immediately for up to 35 days 

5. Renew Your Card

After three years, renew via face-to-face or remote reassessment. Options include half-day refresher and e-learning routes (only if current registration exists)
