This 1-day EUSR refresher course is designed for those already accredited in Category 3, 4 & 5 Shoring Systems (timber, steel & proprietary). It combines practical live-dig training with updated guidance on excavation safety, ensuring compliance is maintained under HSG47 and current EUSR standards. This course is specifically for renewal and revalidation—not initial certification.

This course is mapped to both the EUSR and National Occupational Standards.

Who Should Attend This Course?

This course is intended for professionals who already hold the EUSR Category 3–5 shoring card and require competency renewal. It’s perfect for operatives, supervisors, or safety officers working with live-dig trench support systems

Course Overview

Delegates will be re-familiarised with the necessity for identifying various ground conditions and will come to understand a variety of methods for utilising the appropriate ground retention system(s) and includes:

• Live-dig practical exercises in timber, steel, and proprietary shoring
• Refreshed knowledge on:
  • Soil classification and trench hazard assessment
  • Safe installation, inspection, and removal procedures
  • Compliance with excavation and temporary works regulations
  • Updates to EUSR and HSG best practice

• Live-dig assessments under real site conditions
• Practical competence validated against current EUSR standards

Certificates

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive a Card renewal, which extends your accreditation for another 3 years.

Prerequisites

A valid in date EUSR Categories 3, 4 and 5 Authorisation. If your authorisation has expired, you will need to take the full EUSR Category 3, 4 & 5 - Install, Inspect & Remove Timber, Steel and Proprietary Shoring Systems course.
