This 2-day EUSR training delivers practical and theoretical learning for installing, inspecting, and removing timber (Cat 3), steel (Cat 4), and proprietary (Cat 5) shoring systems in excavation environments. Aligned with HSG47, HSG150, CIRIA R97, and temporary works standards, it includes live-dig practical assessments to demonstrate real-world competence

Course Overview

Delegates will become familiarised with the necessity for identifying various ground conditions and will come to understand a variety of methods for utilising the appropriate ground retention system(s).

This course also includes practical training and assessments while installing ground support systems in a live dig environment with a specific temporary works design.

Key objectives include:

• Recognising excavation hazards and soil condition types
• Selecting appropriate shoring system (timber, steel, proprietary)
• Interpreting shoring system design and layouts
• Planning and risk assessing temporary works
• Performing safe installation, inspection, and removal in live-dig environments
• Demonstrating compliance with HSG47 and temporary works best practice

Assessment & Certification

Competence is demonstrated through live-dig practical performance aligned with Performance Criteria (PC)

Upon succesful completion, delegates receive the EUSR Categories 3, 4 & 5 card, valid for 3 years, plus a course completion certificate

There are no formal entry requirements however a basic level of written and spoken English is required.
