SCO91 Training

Course details

SCO91 Competent Person training for contractors working on National Gas Transmission.

This course is for staff who are required to accept, any form of Transmission Permit documentation, in accordance with T/PM/SCO/91.  It covers knowledge of the SCO91 process and procedures to become authorised as a Competent Person.

Its aim is to ensure that Competent Persons have a good working knowledge of the procedural requirements for Safe Control of Operations on the National Gas Transmission System and are fully aware of and can demonstrate their responsibilities as required by the process.

The SCO91 course is 1-day.

By the end of the SCO91 Training Course, delegates should understand:

• the different procedural requirements, for the Safe Control of Operations on the National Transmission System and sites.
• the role and responsibilities of the Competent Person.
• the roles and responsibilities of all the other SCO roles.
• the selection and completion of the correct Permit documentation, for differing work types.

The process for getting onto the SCO91 database and the paperwork involved is explained and given to the delegates by the trainer on the course.  In basic terms the trainer on successful completion gives a cover note and paperwork to the delegate, the delegate then passes this paperwork to their manager who should complete and then submit to the NG Sponsor (this is usually the person who you are working for). 

The National Gas Sponsor will then vet the paperwork and advise of the next steps. 

Shadowing on permits for a period may also be required please speak to your National Gas Sponsor for further information.
