Course Overview
This course is designed to give operatives a knowledge and understanding of the safe use, fitting and maintenance of abrasive wheels and machinery in line with current Legislation.
This is a 1-day course 8am to 5pm and is for a maximum of 6 delegates and covers 4.5 inch, 9 inch Grinders as well as cut off Saws.
This course will benefit all working professionals who will be required to use abrasive wheels within their work.
Course Content:

Understand the marking system for abrasive wheels.

Identify the potential hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels.

Describe the correct methods of storing, handling and transporting abrasive wheels.

Demonstrate the correct methods for inspecting and testing abrasive wheels for damage.

Demonstrate the competence in mounting an abrasive wheel, including the adjustment of workrests and guards.

Demonstrate the use of components and the assembly of abrasive wheels.

Understand the requirements of and demonstrate how to perform a ring test.

Demonstrate the truing and dressing of an abrasive wheel.

Know and use suitable personal protective equipment.

Know the employer and employee responsibilities under Health and Safety Legislation.

Know and understand current Legislation relating to the use of abrasive wheels.

Assessments
A variety of activities, oral, multiple choice and written questions plus onsite practical’s and assessment.
Certificates
Once the delegate has successfully completed the course and assessment, the results will be submitted to the awarding body and cards will be issued to the delegate in due course.
Certification for this course is valid for 3 years from the date of training. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the Abrasive Wheels course before the expiration date on your card.
Pre-Requisites
There are no formal entry requirements, however delegates do need to be face fitted and clean shaven, with certificate for face fit and mask for the training due to the practical aspects of the course.
