If your current SHEA Water card is due to expire, our EUSR SHEA Water Renewal course provides a fast and effective way to update your qualification and maintain industry compliance. This SHEA Water refresher course is designed for existing cardholders who need to renew their SHEA Water training to continue working safely within the water industry.

By completing this course, you will successfully update your SHEA Water card and ensure your access to water utility sites remains valid.

Who is this course for?

This SHEA Water renewal course is suitable for anyone who already holds a valid SHEA Water card and needs to refresh their SHEA Water knowledge to continue working on water industry infrastructure. If you are looking for your first SHEA Water card, please view our SHEA Water full course.

Course Content

The EUSR SHEA Water refresher course revisits key topics including:

Water industry health & safety practices
Safe systems of work for water networks
Environmental and regulatory awareness
Responsibilities and standards in the water industry

There are eight modules. Please note that your SHEA Water must be in date for you to attend this course.

Modules

Understanding our workplace responsibilities	Underpinning legal frameworks, definitions and their application in the workplace setting, including the responsibilities for both the individual (as an employee) and the employer.
Understanding the effects of our work on the working environment	Key environmental considerations in the workplace, and their impact as employees, on the sustainability of their environment.
Identifying and controlling risks	Helps the individual to identify and control risks and hazards and understand their role in preventing them through a range of positive and proactive health and safety behaviours.
Common hazards in the workplace	Develops the ability to both identify a range of common physical hazards and minimise their impact in the workplace, in line with CSCS requirements.
Occupational health hazards	Explains the meaning of the term 'occupational health' and develops the individual's understanding of a range of occupational health hazards and their requirements. It helps individuals identify, mitigate for, and minimise occupational health hazards in the workplace.
Responding to emergencies	Develops individuals' understanding of emergency response behaviours, the role of reporting, inspection, and enforcement of health & safety in the workplace. It also develops an individual's understanding of the impact on employee and employer of both poor/improving health and safety in the workplace.

Plus, the following modules specific to the Water industry:

Sewerage network and process operations	Understanding of the types of hazards associated with sewerage network and process operations environments.
Highway working and excavations	Understanding of the processes and procedures required to work in the highway; this includes both public and private environments and creating a safe working environment through safe systems of work. The individual will know what to do in the case of an emergency.

The course will be delivered through the context of the water industry.

Assessment

Multiple choice questions after each module.

Certificates

On successful completion of this SHEA Water renewal training, your EUSR SHEA Water card will be renewed for a further 3 years.

The scheme is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) allowing utility workers access to CSCS controlled sites for purposes of utilities work without the need to hold a separate card. The utilities industries share a common goal and commitment to robust mechanisms that enable all workers to demonstrate health and safety awareness and relevant skills and competences.

CSCS affiliated cards carry the CSCS hologram in the top left corner.

Prerequisites

Please note that your SHEA Water must be in date for you to attend this course, if your SHEA Water certification has expired, you will need to sit the full SHEA Water Training course.
