Course Overview

This 0.5 day EUSR SCO (Safe Control of Operations) Module 5: Form of Authority (Was previously part of SCO1&2) scheme is designed for all Authorising Engineers and Competent Persons (NROs supervisory level). We don't offer this as an open course as clients prefer SCO (Safe Control of Operations) Modules 1, 2 & 5: Core, Permit to Work and Form of Authority (Was previously SCO1 &2) which covers this.

Course Content:

The course content and delivery specifications have been developed through consultation with the gas industry. Training material is produced and managed by EUSR on the industry's behalf.

The course heavily uses the IGEM/GL/6 Edition 3 which was introduced into SCO to increase the emphasis on risk-based management of gas safety systems and gives gas distribution companies the flexibility to develop their own gas safety procedures based on meeting the common requirements of GL/6.

The SCO scheme is based on the requirements for meeting GL/6 compliance.

This course provides knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

1. State the purpose of a Form of Authority and when this type of control should be used
2. Identify and analyse the key information requirements of an FoA
3. State the relevant process, roles and responsibilities for personnel involved in the preparation and management of an FoA
4. Identify specific FoA requirements for communication, handover, records management, attendance on site, conflict checking and dealing with deviations and emergencies

Assessment

• For CP - Multiple choice questions after the module plus an audit of a Form of Authority
• For AE - Multiple choice questions after the module plus an audit of a Form of Authority

Certificates

Once the delegate has successfully completed the course and assessments, the results will be submitted to the awarding body and cards will be issued to the delegate in due course.

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years from the date of training. In order for your SCO to be used, your SHEA Gas must remain in date.
