Course details

The EUSR SHEA Power Conversion Course is designed for individuals who already hold a valid SHEA passport (e.g. Gas, Water, Telecoms, or Core) and want to extend their certification to include SHEA Power. This streamlined course focuses on the specific safety, health, and environmental requirements of the electricity and power distribution sector.

Rather than completing the full SHEA programme, this course bridges your existing knowledge with sector-specific training required for access to power industry sites.

Who Should Attend This SHEA Power Conversion Course?

This course is suitable for:

• Utility professionals with an existing SHEA card in another sector (Gas, Water, Telecoms, etc.) 
• Multi-skilled operatives moving into electricity infrastructure roles 
• Contractors or network engineers needing SHEA Power authorisation 
• Anyone cross-training between utility sectors 

No full course repetition is required, but you must be able to present you existing SHEA Passport certification to qualify.

SHEA Power Conversion Course Content

The conversion course focuses exclusively on SHEA Power-specific modules, including:

• Power industry health & safety legislation and working practices 
• Electrical network hazards and sector-specific risk management 
• Environmental and pollution awareness in the power sector 
• The role of individuals and organisations in ensuring safety compliance 
• Updates aligned with EUSR and industry-recognised safety schemes 

Delivery is typically 2-3 hours, using a blend of workshop discussion and practical examples.

Modules

The course will be delivered through the context of the power industry.

Assessment & Certification

Participants will complete a multiple-choice assessment. Successful candidates will be registered on the EUSR and awarded the SHEA Power card valid for 3 years. 

To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the SHEA Power course before the expiry date on your card.

The scheme is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) allowing utility workers access to CSCS controlled sites for purposes of utilities work without the need to hold a separate card. The utilities industries share a common goal and commitment to robust mechanisms that enable all workers to demonstrate health and safety awareness and relevant skills and competences.

Prerequisites

SHEA Conversion is only open to delegates who take the course no more than 2 years from the date of their original SHEA Course.
