Course Overview
This half-day SHEA Power scheme is designed for all persons involved in the operational activities of the electricity transmission and distribution industries who require access to sites, both permanent and temporary, including all levels of operatives, supervisors, and management. We can deliver online or in a classroom.
Course Content:
The scheme comprises of two modules. It is designed to provide evidence that an individual has demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge and awareness. Training material is produced and managed by EUSR on the industry's behalf.
SHEA Conversion is only open to delegates who take the course no more than 2 years from the date of their original SHEA Course.
Modules
Power generation and distribution
|
Awareness of how power is generated and distributed across the network through substations, overhead lines and underground cables and provides an introduction to network components and different voltages.

Power industry hazards
|
Develop an individual's understanding of electrical safety rules, the purpose of Authorisations and the hazards associated with electricity including shocks, burns, arcing and impressed voltage.

The course will be delivered through the context of the power industry.
Assessment
Multiple choice questions after each module.
Certificates
Once the delegate has successfully completed the SHEA Power course and assessment, the results will be submitted to the awarding body and cards will be issued to the delegate in due course.
Certification for this course is valid for 3 years from the date of training. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the SHEA Power course before the expiry date on your card.
The scheme is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) allowing utility workers access to CSCS controlled sites for purposes of utilities work without the need to hold a separate card. The utilities industries share a common goal and commitment to robust mechanisms that enable all workers to demonstrate health and safety awareness and relevant skills and competences.
CSCS affiliated cards carry the CSCS hologram in the top left corner.
