If your SHEA Gas is out of date you will need to do the 1 day EUSR SHEA Gas course instead.

The EUSR SHEA Gas Renewal covers essential updates and refresher training in:
- Gas industry health and safety legislation
- Risk assessment and control measures for gas works
- Gas distribution and transmission network safety
- Working in excavations and confined spaces
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) and gas equipment safety
- Environmental awareness for gas infrastructure works
- Communication, co-operation and site co-ordination (4Cs)

Understanding our workplace responsibilities |
Underpinning legal frameworks, definitions and their application in the workplace setting, including the responsibilities for both the individual (as an employee) and the employer. |

Understanding the effects of our work on the working environment |
Key environmental considerations in the workplace, and their impact as employees, on the sustainability of their environment. |

Identifying and controlling risks |
Helps the individual to identify and control risks and hazards and understand their role in preventing them through a range of positive and proactive health and safety behaviours. |

Common hazards in the workplace |
Develops the ability to both identify a range of common physical hazards and minimise their impact in the workplace, in line with CSCS requirements. |

Occupational health hazards |
Explains the meaning of the term 'occupational health' and develop the individual's understanding of a range of occupational health hazards and their requirements. It helps individuals identify, mitigate for, and minimise occupational health hazards in the workplace. |

Responding to emergencies |
Develops individuals' understanding of emergency response behaviours, the role of reporting, inspection, and enforcement of health & safety in the workplace. It also develops an individual's understanding of the impact on employee and employer of both poor/improving health and safety in the workplace. |

Highway working and excavations |
Understanding of the processes and procedures required to work in the highway; this includes both public and private environments and creating a safe working environment through safe systems of work. The individual will know what to do in the case of an emergency. |

Pressure regulating installations |
Understanding of the journey gas makes from beach to meter and the types of risks associated with pressure regulating gas installations. |
|
Safety in premises |
Understanding of the requirements to working safely in domestic and commercial premises. It also examines how to communicate effectively with customers. |
The course will be delivered through the context of the gas industry.
Assessment & Certification
Assessment is via multiple-choice questions and tutor observations.
Upon successful completion, you will receive:
- A renewed EUSR SHEA Gas Safety Passport (electronic card)
- Certification valid for 5 years
The scheme is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) allowing utility workers access to CSCS controlled sites for purposes of utilities work without the need to hold a separate card. The utilities industries share a common goal and commitment to robust mechanisms that enable all workers to demonstrate health and safety awareness and relevant skills and competences.
CSCS affiliated cards carry the CSCS hologram in the top left corner.
Prerequisites
Please note that your SHEA Gas must be in date for you to attend this course, if your SHEA Gas certification has expired, you will need to sit the full SHEA GasTraining Course.
