Our SCO4 (Module 3: Non -Routine Operations) Renewal Course is a three hour refresher designed to update and maintain your Non‑Routine Operations (NRO) competence in gas network environments. Tailored to professionals with existing SCO NRO certification, this module ensures compliance and continued EUSR registration.

Who Should Attend this SCO Renewal course?

Recommended for:

• Supervisors or operatives holding a current SCO NRO certificate nearing expiry
• Individuals working on non-routine or emergency gas network tasks
• Those needing to renew their SCO4 module to keep EUSR status active

Prerequisite: Valid or recently expired SCO NRO (SCO4) certification.

Course Content

This refresher training revisits:

• Latest guidance on Non‑Routine Operations — emergency repairs, live works, and atypical events
• Updates to gas network safety regulations and best practices
• Steps for incident management and reinstatement procedures
• Permit-to-work systems and duty-holder responsibilities

Interactive case studies and discussions help reinforce learning in real-world scenarios.

The course heavily uses the IGEM/GL/6 Edition 3 which was introduced into SCO to increase the emphasis on risk-based management of gas safety systems and gives gas distribution companies the flexibility to develop their own gas safety procedures based on meeting the common requirements of GL/6.

The SCO scheme is based around the requirements for meeting GL/6 compliance.

Assessment & Certification

Participants complete a short multiple-choice assessment at the end of the day to confirm knowledge retention.

• For CP - Multiple choice questions after each module plus an audit of a Non-Routine Operation
• For AE - Multiple choice questions after each module plus an audit and a write of a Non-Routine Operation

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a renewed SCO4 certificate, valid for five more years, and updated EUSR NRO registration.

In order for your SCO to be used, your SHEA Gas & SCO (Safe Control of Operations) Modules 1, 2 & 5: Core, Permit to Work and Form of Authority (Was previously SCO1 &2) must remain in date.
