Course Content

Participants will learn to:

• Correctly fit, adjust, and inspect full-body harnesses
• Use anchor systems, lanyards, and fall protection devices
• Conduct pre-use checks and identify faulty equipment
• Employ basic rescue methods and PPE recovery techniques
• Understand legal duties and safe working practices under PUWER, LOLER & WAHR

1. Health and Safety law
2. How to plan for working at height
3. How to undertake a working at height risk assessment
4. How to use work at height access equipment safely
5. Determine measures which can be taken to reduce the risk of falls from height
6. Determine the correct safety harness to use for the required job
7. How to correctly put on a safety harness
8. How to use safely use fall arrest and fall restraint protective equipment
9. How to inspect work at height access equipment, fall restraint, fall arrest equipment and safety harnesses
10. Describe the different methods of collective and protective protection
11. Practical exercises and assessments
12. Written assessments

Assessment & Certification

Delegates will be assessed through a combination of multiple-choice and written questions, along with a practical, on-site assessment to confirm competency.

Upon successful completion, candidates will be registered on the EUSR and awarded the EUSR Working at Height and Harness Awareness Card valid for 3 years. 

To maintain active certification, delegates must successfully complete a reassessment prior to the expiry date shown on their card.

Prerequisites

There are no formal entry requirements however a basic level of written and spoken English is required.
