We offer Insulated working under impressed voltage conditions (NSI5 equivalent for contractors) open courses at our training venue in Stoneleigh Park, CV8 2LG. We can also arrange courses just for your team, either at our centres or at a venue to suit you.

This is a one-day course and is for a maximum of 6 delegates.

Course Overview

This course covers working on National Grid HV and LV cables and their accessories under impressed voltage conditions.  

To review and understand the National Grid Requirements and expectations as per SR/163 and SR/234.

To review and understand National Grid Requirements and expectations as per NSI5 and the need for each Principal Contractor to have their own equivalent procedure and authorisation process.

• Procedure for Cable Serving Test under a Permit for Work
• Work on Metallic Cooling Pipes under Impressed Conditions
• Work on or near Faulty or Damaged HV and LV Cables
• Assessment

Assessment

A variety of practical activities, oral, multiple choice, and written questions.

Certificates

Once the delegate has successfully completed the course and assessment, the results will be given and an in-house certificate will be issued.

Certification for this course is valid for 1 year from the date of training.

Pre-Requisites

National Grid Competent Person Substations NSI 6 and NSI 8 and a good understanding of cable systems.
